Woke up to learn that Theodore Roosevelt lost his wife and mother on the same day–two days after the birth of his daughter. Distraught, he left her for cattle ranching and law enforcement in the Dakota territories–only to have his prize herd wiped out by a blizzard.

He returned home to raise her and eventually become the President of the United States.

Filing this under staying resolute against all odds.
