Solo With My Son

I don’t know what everyone’s talking about–I loved Solo. Smiled throughout and the soundtrack is beyond anything I could imagine.

Which reminds me–29 years ago my parents let me cut high school to see Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade at the very same theatre I saw Solo tonight: the Arclight Cinerama Dome. Although back then, it was simply called the Cinerama Dome. And the parking structure was just a parking lot.

It’s also the same place where I saw _Terminator 2__. And Aladdin. And Avatar and The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi and pretty much every important movie to me over the past three decades.

But most importantly, this is the the same theater where I took my son Alex to see Revenge of the Sith when he was 6. He was with me tonight as well.

It’s great going with someone who really appreciates great music (John Powell is his favorite). As the man behind the theme for the Narrative First Podcast and well on his way to becoming a major composer, Alex knows his music and can pick apart any motif.

I’m grateful tonight to be able to see a childhood dream come true with Han and Chewie on screen–but even more so to see the dream of my son growing into such an amazing and talented individual become a reality.
